The fair is in full swing in Svornosti Square. Amidst jugglers and barking dogs, minstrels from as far away as Prague vie for attention while an old gypsy woman scans the crowd. The air is ripe with the spicy aroma of sausages sizzling on blazing fires alongside enormous slabs of venison. At rough wooden booths crammed cheek-by-jowl, vendors hawk cups of mead.
